Slemani — Shnyar Anwar, a member of the Kurdistan Region Parliament from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), launched a sharp criticism of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and what he referred to as the “Lalezar clique” in a Facebook post on Monday, accusing them of orchestrating campaigns against her and her political allies.
In the post, Anwar claimed that the KDP and its supporters have developed what she described as a “phobia” toward her and her political movement, alleging that they routinely seek to blame them for various issues.
The PUK lawmaker also referred to allegations involving a luxury villa, expensive purchases, and legal disputes, claiming that her political opponents were attempting to divert public attention from those matters through what she described as misinformation campaigns. The PUK MP did not provide evidence to support the allegations, and those accused have not publicly responded to the claims.
Anwar defended his political record, saying his activities are focused on serving voters and addressing the needs of residents across the Kurdistan Region, including in Sangaw, Sharbazher, Halabja, and Soran.
He further stated that he conducts his work transparently and vowed to continue exposing what he described as corruption and wrongdoing. He also accused Parastin, the KDP’s intelligence agency, of spreading false information against him and other political figures.
“The distortions, lies, and slanders will not deter me from serving the people,” Anwar wrote, adding that political pressure would not prevent him from carrying out his parliamentary duties.
The comments come amid ongoing political tensions between the PUK and KDP, the two dominant parties in the Kurdistan Region, which have frequently exchanged criticism over governance, transparency, and political influence.
